The Use of the Internet Acceptable Use Agreement

The Lynn Public Schools is pleased to be able to provide Internet services to our students and teachers. Offering this resource promotes educational excellence by facilitating resource sharing, innovation, and communication. Use of the Internet aligns with the educational goals of the district. The information available is usually current and plentiful and when used for educational purposes can be very powerful. The Lynn Public Schools believe that students benefit from an understanding of the appropriate use of the Internet.

At the same time, we are aware of the possibilities of misuses and misinformation that Internet use may involve. Access to computers and people around the world may allow students availability to materials that may be considered to have non-educational value in the school setting. Precautions to restrict access to these materials have been taken. However, while these precautions are taken, it is impossible to control all materials and an industrious user may encounter inappropriate information while on the Internet.

As an independent user of the Internet at the Lynn Public Schools, I agree to follow this code of ethics in all my work with computers.

1. I will be polite and use appropriate language.

2. I will keep personal information, such as, my address and phone number or that of other students and teachers confidential.

3. I will use only the Internet account authored to me.

4. I will assume that all information accessible via the Internet is copyrighted.

I will seek and access only material that is considered appropriate to a school setting and educational use.

In the best interest of students, the Lynn Public School System reserves the right to restrict resources. Students who are found using the Internet inappropriately will have all rights of access suspended for a period of time consistent with the offense or indefinitely. School authorities reserve the right of final judgment.

Uso del Internet: Acuerdo Sobre su Uso Aceptable

Las Escuelas Públicas de Lynn tienen el agrado de proveer servicios de Internet a nuestros estudiantes y maestros. El ofrecimiento de este recurso promueve excelencia educacional al permitir compartir, innovar y comunicarse. El uso del Internet está alineado con las metas educacionales del distrito. La información disponible es por lo general de actualidad y de abundancia y cuando es usada con fines educacionales puede ser muy eficaz. Las Escuelas Públicas de Lynn creen que los estudiantes se benefician de un entendimiento del uso apropiado del Internet.

Al mismo tiempo, nosotros tenemos conocimiento de las posibilidades de mal uso e información errónea que el Internet podría implicar. El acceso a computadoras y gente alrededor del mundo podrían permitir a los estudiantes la disponibilidad de materiales que podrían ser considerados sin valor educacional en el ambiente escolar. Se han tomado precauciones para limitar el acceso a estos materiales. De todos modos, aunque estas precauciones son tomadas, resulta imposible controlar todos los materiales y un usuario diligente podría encontrar información inapropiada mientras está en el Internet.

Como un usuario independiente del Internet en las Escuelas Públicas de Lynn , yo estoy de acuerdo en seguir este código ético en todo my trabajo con computadoras.

Yo solamente voy a buscar y acceder a materiales que son considerados apropiados para el uso en el ambiente escolar y de uso educacional.

En el mejor interés para los estudiantes, el Sistema de las Escuelas Públicas de Lynn se reserva el derecho de restringir los recursos. A los estudiantes que sean encontrados usando el Internet inapropiadamente se les suspenderán los derechos de acceso por un período de tiempo compatible con la ofensa o indefinidamente. Las autoridades escolares se reservan el derecho de un fallo (decisión) final.
